straight pipe it

Anybody know what the stock exhaust sounds like with just the muffler cut off? I would put an angled turndown on it.

I have a 5.4 and I had the muffs cut off and it sounds pretty good. It does get a little "poppy" if its not warm and you step on it, but other than that I'm pretty happy with it. I did turn the duals behind the rear tires b/c I like the look, but its a pain to keep clean.

But w/o the mufflers did it sound a bit annoying?

If you don't want to hear your exhaust constantly, don't do it.

I just had the muffler removed then Y piped on my last 4.6L and it sounded great, but it got on my nerves on long trips and when towing.

I'm sure my neighbors hated it when I left the house well before daylight as well.

Is it really that loud? I am quite considerate of my neighbors, well some of them. But thats kind of a least concern.

I think Im going to cut it off soon. If it sounds bad o well, have to suck it up for a bit til I can get a muffler

On a quiet night/morning.. they'll be able to hear you coming from blocks away.

It sounded good, but mine (97 SWB 4.6L 4x4) was pretty loud. When you stood on it, it was really loud.

How would that even be possible?

Mufflers alone do not amplify sound.

The flows are freakin loud as hell.
I would not straight pipe if you have respect for your neighbors.

I don't doubt that at all.

I have a hard time figuring out how flows are louder than straight pipes though.

Damn. Never though it would be that loud. They are used to my IROC though, so I'm not sure if they will mind. Is there anyway to unbolt the muffler first, just to see what it sounds like?
