Is that a 2.5" pipe? Doesn't look like 3".

Hi.

Pipe size is deceiving - the engine compartment is huge, hence it's difficult to reference the size of stuff in there... plus the filter itself is real big too...

Tex - your pictures look great - no worries on your skills there. However you need to work on engine compartment detailing a little J/K !

Cheers
Bubba

You're absolutely right, never gave it a thought until I stuck a bright chromed pipe on! Gonna work on that a bit..

So how come your AF1 3" tube is different than mine? You have an attachment between the end of your pipe and your filter with some wiring attached. Is your's on an older truck or am I missing something from my AF1? Here's a picture of my setup to show you what I'm talking about.

Hmm.. I see the difference.. Mine's an 05 and 4.6L.. the wiring is the MAF connection.. not sure why mine would have the connectors requiring the ring clamps when yours doesn't??

plus my filter looks longer / narrower.. must just be the difference in engines??

the difference is most likely due to one being a 4.6 and one being a 5.4

Ahhhh that explains it, didn't realize your's was the 4.6L. My MAF is at the other end of the pipe. Thanks

wxscpo, did you have any trouble getting the two studs on the heat shield to seat down into the rubber grommets?.. I thought I had 'em seated completly but heard a vibration at idle today and looked and both had worked up and loose.. now I can tell that I'm not getting them ALL the way through the grommets.. Think maybe I'll need to remove the filter and shield, apply a little silicone grease and use channel locks to squeeze 'em thru..
