I have a '97 f150 5.4L and am looking to buy a flowmaster 40 muffler (http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/40_super.html). Will one fit and if so, which one would i need?

yep it will fit, anything will fit as long as the inlet & outlet sizes match the factory pipe.

k now what do you want? do you want dual tips? If so, I would reccomend you get a si/do ( single in/dual out ) inlet centered, and since those inlets on those si/do mufflers are 3", you will need the exhaust shop to also replace your mid way pipe with a 3" one.

If your doing a muffler only swap, then part #952546 is what you need, a 2.5" in/out si/so inlet offset, and outlet centered. And get it dumped at the axle, dont re-use the stock tip it will just quiet you down more and still sound stock. Or if you really prefer a tip, have then re-bend you one and put a stainless steel 3.5x12" tip in your you. goodluck on your project you'll love the sound
