I was having a hard time deciding between the 14" and the 18". Scared the 14 would be too loud, and the 18 not loud enough. So i went with the smallest 18", the 6" round. Having a shorter tailpipe exiting in front of the tire, and the 18 x 3.5 tip helps to make it louder. Quiet on idle, nice deep tone during accel, quiet enough just cruising. Got it from performancepeddler.com, good prices, and service.

i actually just replaced my muffler on my 02 5.4 got the maggie 14" 4x9 oval muffler, and it sounds SWEET! you can hear it when your on it, but not while crusing. i think an 18" would be too quiet. all ya need is the 14" muffler and 18" of 2.5 pipe and some clamps if your doing it yourself(i welded mine in) and your all good. i also put a 12" 3.5 slash cut rolled tip on mine, and it did make it sound more "bellowing". got it all for $75. place to get it is performance peddler, and make some crazy low offers on it!

I just bought the 12256 from PerformancePeddler on Ebay for $63

He listed it for $73 and I did a Best Offer of $63 and he took it.

BTW, the 12256 is a 18" 5x8 muffler. I don't want it for the sound, just for the flow.

Look at the non polished mufflers, they are a lot cheaper than the polished ones but are the excact same (except for the polishing).

I recently replaced my IMCO Extreme with the 5x8x18" SI/DO and it's just about perfect. Sounds great when accelerating but pretty quiet when cruising. I also purchased the muffler from Performance Peddler like so many others have.
