Which Intake? Just got harder

I have been reading everybody's posts, about their individual intakes-then going to the site to see the propaganda...but its just getting harder to choose.

From a practical standpoint, I'm not sure why the intakes are not like Volants, where there is a sealed box, and a mini-ram air tube feeding it also.

To really seal the intake off from the engine, this seem to be the right way, not to mention helping to keep the filter clean.

Would somebody like to elaborate on this?

Also, why isn't ram air more of a priority?

There's a tube, going to the engine-seems like a great starting point.

Check out my thread on the aFe Stage II sealed intake.. It has the sealed airbox. So far I have been very impressed with it.

The two best that I have seen with full filter enclosures AND non-oiled filters are:
1. Outlaw Power with NeverOil Filter www.outlawpower.com/productdetail.php?sc=1486
and
2. AFE with ProDry Filter.

I am leaning towards the AFE...seems to be a good unit, good price.

Although I'm pretty convinced that even though a unit doesn't produce a light, a Tuner should be part of the plan.

I tow occasionally, and jumping on it to get up to speed is a pretty regular-would not like to be lean in that situation.

For those doing K&N, are you guys using the "77 kit" or the "Aircharger kit"?? Other than the piping is there a difference between the two?

the 57 is a plastic tube, the 77 is a metal tube. plastic doesnt get as hot, so its probably better for keeper the air cool. K&N claims on the dyno runs that the 57 series produces more rwhp then the 77 series. but when you pop your hood the 77 series looks flashier, i guess.
