Dumping Exhaust

Dumping Exhaust
I have a 2002 F150 with SI/DO 50 Series Flowmasters with 3.5" tips....I love the sound, but I would like it louder. Plus I think the truck would look cleaner without the tips showing. Will it make much difference in my sound dumping the exhaust over the rear axle? I know it did on my Mustang, but it sets on the ground. Thanks for any help.

- Glad your running the 50's and that your running two of them - you prolly haven't hurt your torque at this point and could stand to off a little back pressure any way.
You have close to the perfect set up to get rid of /or gut one of your cats. I would gut the rears or replace with 2.5" pipe - don't touch the front cats ..
The part I loved the most was that GT sound I got after doing this - it's not really that loud , but when I take off from the light driving just a little above normal (little more gas than usual - it sounds absolutely killer !!
I'm running the 24" SISO Magnaflow now - before that , I was running a Flowbastid 50 series ( The short 50 , not the SUV type 50 series.) .
I went from the high 15's to 17.8 MPG and it's a hell of allot quicker of the line!! - Well it sounds quicker anyhoe...
You don't need four cats and can get rid of the rears without producing a check engine light. - You don't need a iliminator..
Do it , you'll be glad you did .
