AF1 install question

I have my AF1 installed already - 02 Screw w/5.4 - and don't have the installation instructions but was wondering if it matters what postion the MAF is sitting? Some pictures show the connection on the bottom, some on the front side and some on the top. The problem is that if it needs to be on the top my stock wiring wont reach to plug in. Do you think it makes a difference what position the hanging sensor inside sets in for performance or not?

Seems like I have read that the MAF orientation does make a difference. Call Troyer see what they say?

MAF position does make a difference, ask someone with tuning experience on these vehicles how much it can move from stock position w/out effecting anything. I know on my last car (Ford Cobra Mustang), I could rotate from 10' oclock to noon w/out any adverse affects.

Called Troyer and got the info needed. Was told that the plug in clip thing should be in the front of the vehicle with the plug comming in from bellow which would put the sensor sitting horizontially inside the unit. I don't know if would make that big off a difference, but better safe than slower.

It makes a big difference, not sure why. If it's not oriented correctly you'll get rough idle, sluggish throttle response, CEL..

Again, someone with more knowledge could explain why, but once folks get it in the correct position those problems go away.
