High flow cats

BTW - OP - you are being bent over - high-flows are only $80 a piece ...
I thought that was kind of high, so I have done some more checking around and found some one to put my high flow cats on for about $50.00, but they wont cut off the precats, so I need to find some one to take them off. I also was told that precats really don't restrict flow and I could leave them on and still have the gains, not sure if that is true or not, I would think they would restrict flow.
thanks, :

Pre cats? No such thing as far as I know , The forward cats are cats.. Mine are reduced from 2 1/2 to 2 1/8 tho, for more backpressure.

You can see inside the one if you look closely, theres cat material inside just like the rears, I know, not that great of pics. -

My old front cats were gutted - major difference , it was lowd as hell and I had no torque to speak of..It's just about perfect with the new ones, along with a 24" magnaflow SISO cat back..

A better set up would be the Maggy High Flow Cats of course- why won't they do it for you , there emission compliant .. I would try another shop.

Well I pulled the tube from the intake tract and plan on looking into the "snorkel mod" on the end of the air box. I'm not sure if I going the K&N route but do want to open up the air box going into the fender. I do notice more low end throttle response with the tube gone from the intake tract and will report back on MPG changes as time goes on (I fill up about every 3-4 weeks so it might take some time).

you could always just cut them off yourself and bring it to the shop and tell them to put the new ones on

I imagine the 3" piece of PVC that I put on the end of the air box instead of that stock 2" one

Oh , maybe you should name it - something better than the "snorkel mod"

This is the "SNORKEL MOD" -

http://www.rmftc.com/howtos/snorkel/snorkel.html

Anyway, you should name you own mod.

Heres how it benefits, read this -

With the intake you made there-did you take the MAF out of the housing? Was it always that silver colour? If so, that looks great and seems easy to do as well....

And people were paying upwards of $200 for perhaps the same thing only shinier...

My 98 MAF housing was always that color and yes the whole thing was easy to do . I purchased another complete intake from the salvage yard from an 02 for $13 - MAF included , that MAF is identical to my 98 .

Heres a better pic of the MAF -

My '04 Heritage has a plastic housing around the MAF? I got all the pieces to do this mod but the MAF. I was going to remove the whole unit out of the intake but it was plastic and not metal like yours...

Are they interchangeable? Can that work with my '04?

An 04? I have no idea on those - My know how stops at the 03. The 04's totally different everywhere..

You might wanna try the 04 and up section..

Howdy, I took the cover off behind the air filter connector and the MAF unit is plastic but it looks like yours. I had to position the MAF in a different way then stock (the connector going towards the firewall) will this make a difference?

My truck is the old style Heritage model-it looks like the '03 with some goodies added...mostly the "Heritage" badge underneath the F150 on the tailgate.
