Ah, understood.. The only reason for that rubber liner along the top is to hopefully reach the underside of the hood and create a bit of a seal there. No reason you can't just wrap the edge of the heat shield as far you can with that strip, tho it's only really useful along the top edges.

yeah i know just more of an aesthetics thing oh well.
