Straight into Y-Pipe Question

I have a neighbor who just put a Y-pipe on his 98 dodge 4.7L. He chopped off the oem muffler and put on the Y and ran suals out the back and it sounds really good. None around here has that setup. But my question is. I have my cherry bomb pro si/do right now. would i even hear the difference between the two if i chopped that off and put a Y-pipe in its place? Please help

I Y piped my truck and personally, I like the engine's natural sound versus a glasspack style muffler/performance muffler. Only mufflers that offer a good sound to me are dynomax and magnaflow. Magnaflows also need time to break in, because I believe some are glaspacks but sound better with age.

Anywho, I Y-piped my truck and it is one of the best sounds that I was lookin for.

No muffler is needed in NY, but it is in the VTL that you cannot modify your exhaust to make it louder than the stock configuration. But you still pass inspection!

Any issues with lack of back pressure to the catallic convertors?..I heard that this could be an issue when running without a muffler and could also affect low end torque..

Only pops when it hits above 3000 RPM and then idles back down.

Not really louder than any muffler but definetly louder than stock!

No back pressure issues whatsoever. After the installation shop tested BP and said it was definetly less than stock but still very satisfactory.
