ticking noise on cold drive

when i start my truck up after sitting or in morning before i leave... it starts up but when i start to drive away it almost sounds like a locomotive type noise.. not really loud but like a consistent ticking/chugging noise until its warmed up.. once my truck has been driving for a while.. sound goes away.. any suggestions to what it may be?

Exhaust manifold leak. You need to replace your gaskets. The reason the sound goes away when it's warm, is because it expands enough to cover up the leak. I also have the same sound and need to replace them.

Could be a broken stud, I have that and it sounds identicle to yours,

Could be a crack in the manifold,

Could be a bad gasket and is not completly sealing 100% even when warm.

What he said.

Mine ended up being broken manifold studs. Started out like yours, then got progressively worse.
