anything to make a 1993 4.9 I6 sound good becides flowmaster???

it will drone with the flows. flows sound best on v8s. i dunno anything about i6s though so i cant really help ya.

Better sound, better performance. I've had both, the Magnaflow is better. Price I'm not sure. I've heard of people getting them for well under $100.

 

The Maggy mufflers can be had for well under 100, then just get a shop to install it. Everything should be around 100.

Just pick one of those. The shorter they are, the louder. I would go with one of the longer ones on a 6 cylinder.

 

jbrew says he has a 16 and its like a 50 series flow
and that is quieter than my 40 flow i got now so how about a 14"
and will i loose any back pressure??

 

It's up to you man. I think the louder a 6 cylinder, the crappier it sounds. You might like it. That's why I suggested the Maggie, they are a little more mellow than FM's. I would go with a bigger Mag and enjoy the low, rumble.

 

my buddy has got a d/o flowmaster and it dumps under the cab (sounde like crap) i like the rumble (like i got now with the 40 flow) but a little louder mine only sounds good at 25000-3200rpm or 3700-4200rpm i would like a good sound from idle up

A 14" or 18" might sound decent enough. A friend had a Mag on his 4.3L S10 and it sounded very good until high RPM's, then you could tell it was a 6. The Mag has a deeper/lower rumble. Not as raspy/loud as the FM.
