Muffler Questions

I am thinking about replacing my muffler and going duals out the side on my 05 crew lariat and i cant decide on a muffler.
I am looking for one that:

1. has an aggressive sound, but no drone in the cab
2. one that helps horsepower and torque
3. thats lasts for a couple of years, especially in my salty winter climate

any info on which type or size would greatly appreciated, so i can price shop from my local muffler shops. thanks

Sound like you want a Magnaflow.

i bought dynomax superturbos im putting them on this weekend True duels with no cats ill post a sound clip and you can hear for your self. Dynomax's slogan is "closest you can get to strait pipe" so im hopeing they sound better than my cat's dumping. ill keep you posted on it.

Magnaflow is probably your best bet. Most folks say they drone the least (but the terms of #1 are somewhat mutually exclusive). #2, Maggie but very little (no muffler-only swap has a large effect). #3, Maggie again, being stainless.

Price: PerformancePeddler.com has some of the best prices online. Don't know if you'll beat them buying locally or not.

Magnaflow's universals with offset/center are what you'll want if just doing a swap. I can tell you the 22" will be too quiet for you... just a half-notch up from stock. Most people go with the 18", and some prefer the 14" for more bark.

See them HERE

... And search around using the P/N's from the Magnaflow site. You'll find lots of info.

You know that's not what I have, jbrew.

This is the one I have: 12586

This is the 18" most people recommend: 12256

And this is the (louder) 14" some people like: 12226

Shoulda grabbed the 24x5x8 OhioLariat .

Just kiddin'. I'll bet it sounds almost like your "boat anchor" 22......LOL.

I'd like to get a cat-back Maggie for my 05, but the kit comes with an 18". Think Hot Exhaust or Per Peddler will sell me a kit and trade out the 18 for a 24???

I want the full 3" mandral SS tubing I think!!
