05 5.4 Intake System
I have a 05 FX4 SCREW 5.4 liter and i want to increase the ponies. Any help would be greatly appreciated i was looking at a K&N system. I have a EDGE programmer in the truck. Also, would this also help the mpg? Thanks

i have the K&N system, and its great. however if you plan to stay with the edge, i would recomend the AF1 3" or the Airraid intake systems, due to the fact that they will increase power without leaning out your engine. The other intakes (K&N included) require custom tuning to keep your engine safe.

AF1 is an open filter design. I installed one on my 02 5.4l about 3 weeks ago. It gave the engine a nice growl during hard acceleration. I noticed a little better throttle response, but have not been able to check if mpg increased. Unless you sink your truck, I don't think the open design will be a problem.

I myself would run no CAI in combination with the edge on a 3valve.
Your asking for possible problems IMO. How will you know if it's running lean?? You may find out if it runs lean enough to put it over the limit I would either leave it with just the edge or get custom tuning!! The edge can only fix a lean condition at WOT.
