will this provide any benefit?

i did the airbox mod yesterday, 5 mins with a dremel tool and it worked great. however i have this new drill i wanna play with and the MAF area looks like it could be a sweet spot. since the huge tube holding the maf restricts some air flow i was kind of wondering if i took a big drill bit and drilled a few dozen holes in it would it help with airflow any or just look like swiss cheese? I'm talking about the flat part that sits flush/ near the filter housing, not the actual inside of the MAF housing.

Talking

on one hand i say it might help but i think that it is there to help direct the air to the maf for better readings.

Yeah that acts like a sealing plate and is there to "cone" air towards the MAF.
