gibson duel extreme exhaust

well been reading alot about exhaust the last week or so and was almost sold on the roush off road. like the idea of having roush and love the sound. but i really like the way the gibson duel extreme exhaust exits behind each tire. so is there anyone out there that has a gibson duel extreme with pics and sound please ? or does anyone know if roush can be bent or angled to fit like the gibson

I got a Gibson SS (Swept Side) exhaust many moons ago and I think the Dual Extreme uses the same 'basic' muffler design, just with two outlets...

That being said, my Gibson muffler had a bit more 'rumble' to it over the stock unit, and it seemed to perform better, but it still turned out to be a POS, as only a year later, it developed a rattle from a loose baffle inside the muffler...

I didn't want to mess the the so called 'warranty' as I would have had to send them the muffler (at my expense) and then at best, all they would do is send me another POS muffler...... And, what would I do in the meantime??

So, I had the Gibson replaced with a Flo-Pro and have not looked back since. I kept the Gibson 3" tail pipe, so that's been the best part of the Gibson deal!

My Flo-Pro has a nice rumble to it at idle and sounds really good as you go thru the gears... No resonance in the cab, and even towing my TT, it's not obnoxious, yet lets you hear the sound of a good ol' V8. Lets just say, my wife does not complain about it... (She thought my 1986 GT 5.0 was too loud when I had dual Flo-Pros in it! It was a nice ride.. I wish I had kept that GT.... Anyway... )

IMO, mandrel bends are nice looking and all, but won't really make any diff on your 'seat O the pants' meter...

If it was me, I'd get the dual outlet muffler of your choice and have a shop bend up some tails for you... On a dual outlet setup, I would not go any bigger then 2.5" pipe...

JMHO on the deal...

Mitch

Gibson is way too quiet for a V8, in some cases even V6s. Get the Roush exhaust but have the shop bend you tailpipes to exit 45 or w/e degree you want behind the tires and have them put on the Roush tips, then sell the Roush tailpipes or give/sell them to the shop or w/e you wanna do

Go with the Roush over the Gibson, or just buy a Borla muffler and get the exhaust shop to bend pipes wherever you want. Borla is what Roush uses, but stamps their name on it and charges a few dollars extra. so in reality you're just buying the name

all mufflers get just a little bit louder after about 10,000 miles when they get broke in. If you're going that route: long tube headers + high flow cats + X-pipe + dual SI/SOs or single DI/DO

negative, as long as you go with a straight through design muffler, you will not lose any low end.

10,000 miles? shouldn't take that long for an exhaust to get broken in. 1,000 at the most.

ehh tell you what. i've had my gibson's on going on 2 years.... here lately, they HAVE gotten louder (although MODS do help that lol) i have the dual out the rear. i likem. my truck stands out enough as it is and i don't need to give the popo any more reason to pull me over while i'm doing 120 down the interstate.
