AF1 3" vs 3.5"
Well obviously there is a difference in the 2, but how much of a difference? I will eventually be getting my Xcal from VMP, but I want an intake soon, and I like what I hear about the AF1. But how much more do you get from the 3.5"? Is it a HUGE difference, or moderate? My truck is an '08 5.4L 4x4 Scab. I'm not looking for huge power, just some better response, little nicer tone to go along with my Maggie 16616. Should I just go with the 3", or should I go all out and go 3.5 and wait till I can get my tuner?

Hey ryan42680 ,
I have a 3" AF1 and its sweet. Its a nice add on. It does affect the throttle response, power and sound. Click on the camera to see the pics of my install. The 3.5" unit is the same as mine only there is a 7" piece of tube which narrows down to 3" inside the 3.5" making it the 3". check out my pics as i took a photo of this.

The 3" you can bolt on right away and enjoy..

I went to the Troyer site, and they have the AF1 for 5.4L and 4.6L, but it doesn't say for the 5.4L if it's the 3" or 3.5". Does anyone know for sure if the intake he sells on the site is the 3"? Also, it seems kinda pricey through him. it was $300 or so. I thought I had seen the AF1 for $250ish.

I've got the 3.5" and I can't hear anything while I'm driving unless I'm at WOT. It's the quietest intake I've ever had, but I do have an exhaust.
The only thing I don't like about the 3.5 is that if I take my truck into the dealer I can't set it back to stock like I could before. Now I have to worry about them re-setting my PCM and screwing things up. I forgot I had the 3.5 once and put it back to stock and the truck ran like crap. I quickly put it back to the custom tune.
That's my only concern, otherwise I like this thing.

I have Troyers tunes now and will be heading in to the dealer in a couple weeks, I'll put the stock intake back on, return to stock tune, get back home and put the AF1 back on and reload the 93 perf tune.. no biggie..
It also gives me the opportunity to clean and re-oil the AF1 filter and let it dry for a day or so.
