Mine is sitting at home right now in its box... I have been at school for over a month, and the parents are bringing it down in a few weeks. I am pumped to get it on, and sure it isn't an AF1, but it has its plusses. I figure gas mileage will decrease on average in the beginning because who isn't going to push their truck a little bit to see if it makes more power? I mean I know I'm not going to install it, and just go putter around town to see if my mpg's go up....
Anyways, I think it is a slick intake but still haven't installed it on my 98 4.6 liter 4x4. I'll let you all know how it goes. Was it a pretty straight forward easy instal for everyone? I couldn't imagine it being hard. I could take off my intake on my mustang in about 5 minutes, and have it back on in another 5.

just ordered a volant intake ill keep you posted on the results.now im debating on whether to get an edge or a tuner like the one i had on my old lightning. i like the idea of having the tuner (edge) with in arms reach and not have to keep pluging in and out all the time to check the tune.

thumper2001- I have a Volant on mine and it's a 2002 5.4, had it about a year now. I like it, and have no problems with it since I got it. Alot of people like the open filters on other CAI systems but for me I wanted a closed system that I did not have to worry about. With any CAI you are not going to notice a huge gain in the seat of your pants dyno but you will notice it in different times. I don't think it was a waste of money it was just a piece of the puzzle. You will be happy with it if you do get one.

volant
Hey guys, ive just installed a volant intake on my 01 4.6 screw as well as a Jet chips Throttle body spacer about a week ago. The truck can actually get out of its own way now, even with the stock exhaust it sounds good at full boot. Im lookin at either a Corsa catback or a Borla...any suggestions?

Finally installed my volant! It is amazing, install was super easy (little cold out), but in the end easy.
I really love this intake, I can definitely tell a difference It isn't like holy smokes throw your head back difference, but there is one. The truck sounds a lot healthier, and it pulls harder than before with a smoother pull as well. I would highly recommend this intake to anyone with a 4.6 Triton.
I had a MAC intake on my 98 Mustang GT, which is very similar to the AF1 intake. I think that the volant is in overall terms way nicer. I know dyno numbers don't lie, but I'd choose this thick plastic over the chrome/metal CAI everytime, especially since it has a nice sealed airbox to keep engine heat away from the filter.
