Look on some of the mustang sites they have EGR delete kits for the 4.6....a plate for the top plenum and also a capped nut for the header.

my studs / nuts were so rusty the nut froze to the stud and when i tryed to take off the nut the stud came with it. but worst comes to wrost u break the stud in half and you get a stud puller. mine had 104,000 miles on it and all 16 studs came right out non of them broke. ull do fine...u will need o2 externders you can buy some good ones for 40 bucks or you can make your own...pacesetter only set enogh wire for one o2 for me. but they have all the crimps you need. i used speaker wire for the other side works fine. then i electical taped all the wires togther. yeah from what i can tell a nice power increase. seat of the pants=20 HP thats when u can feel seat of the pants power. im very please with them. what headers are you getting the ones i got? if you get those the EGR is a differnt size and u will need 12 point 8MM sockets adn wrenchs.....donno why there 12 point but they are...any questions feel free to ask me

Shifty - The EGR was wrong on yours because you ordered 5.4L headers which has a larger EGR port - 3/4 .

The 4.6 L headers Pacesetter offers, has a smaller EGR port. The correct size = 5/8 I believe.

You ordered 5.4L 4x4 headers.

4.6L -5.4L base - Just means they bolt to the head the same way IMO.

There's a specific part # the for the 2wd 4.6L model, it's right on the site. You didn't order those. If the site wasn't working properly, I would have called them .

Remember , we went threw this already - It was to late for you to change your order. You didn't tell what happened until a couple days later. They were already on the way, in route.

This is the kit I was thinking of. I don't know if it will work for your set up or not on the '97 4.6. I had it on my '02 GT.

That's a nice EGR delete cap. I would delete mine, I hate all that EGR crap, it gets in the way. Gas is too freaking expensive and I would have to delete it on the Dyno for the motor to run correctly without it.

I think I have what you need shifty - 3/4 X 5/8 ?

yeah 3/4 Course in the header...then 5/8 or 1/2" into the EGR tube...Fine thread....so if i fix the EGR so it works....and then buy that delete plate so when i go to the dyno and tell them to do an EGR delete i could take all of that EGR crap off and my truck would run fine??? Thanks alot Jbrew when spring time comes ill wax your truck for free i owe it to you buddy.
