2007 FX4, What dual exhaust should I get?

2007 FX4, What dual exhaust should I get?

First post so go easy on me. I have an 07 FX4 as seen below.





I am lookin to get dual exhaust put on my truck. but after talking to the place that's going to put it on, they say i can only do 1 muffler with dual pipes out the back. pardon my ignorance, but is that normal?

I was looking to get the either the Flowmaster 40 or 44 series.

I was also curious about the aftermarket catalytic converters. Are they worth the investment?

and last but not least headers. I am not looking to make any major engine adjustments after this, I already have a cold air intake, so I just dont know if the headers and catalytic converter are worth the extra coin.

and if so, what would ya'll recommend?

Lets see, you could run true duals, 2 single muffler, single tip straight out the back, but im not a big fan. the favorites around here tend to be the magnalfow cat back system and the roush off road. Id tend to stay clear of the fartmasters. I dont know much about aftermarket cats, so im curious to the other responses, but from what ive heard, they arent worth it. Headers, where to start, if you get them, get long tubes. They are quite expensive and there are not many people on here with them (04+). Install is a pain as well. What kind of cai you running? Lemme guess, K&N?

Ok, you should be fine then. Nice looking truck. I love the blacked out look. Maggie and the roush will sound nice. Look at getting on of those.

I am not partial to flowmaster, I just like the fact that the super 44's are black

I will look into the maggie and the roush exhaust. I definitely like the dual pipes straight out the back though.

I would like to do the headers but it sounds like they might be too expensive for the difference they'll make for me.

the verdict is still out on the aftermarket cats.

My Magnaflow looks and sounds awesome! If you have the factory tow hitch, the Magnaflow that exits split rear style will not fit. The Roush will fit, however.

Now why would they do that, why would they design a exhaust system for a truck knowing full well that most trucks are gonna have a hitch.?

I'm not sure why they would do that... maybe their goal was to achieve the greatest power possible, and their engineering deterined the exhaust routing, maybe they simply just didn't think about it...

Mine exits out the side in front of the tire, only on bend in my exhaust.

Not so, Magnaflow make a split dual rear that works with the factory hitch. It's the Magnaflow 16615. Check out the pic on my Gallery.

Thumbs up Headers all the Way!

I have a 05 Screw with true duals, long tube Pacesetter headers, 3" high flow cats and 2.5" full length going into Flowtech Red Hots with 3.5" stainless tips. I have 3" body lift 3" leveling kit and 35" Mud Tires.

My wife has a 06 King Ranch with stock cats going one in, two out Flowmaster Super 44 with 3.5 Stainless tips, and her truck is so much slower.

The only problems you get is you O2 sensors are always throwing codes. Still looking for mil eliminators for the new F150's.

You could go to a shop and they could put together something that comes out the back if you wanted that route. Personally I'd go with duals out the corners, but that leaves a lot of SS showing depending on your tips which you seem opposed to. Anyway thats just my pennies. nice truck

Thanks. Is the roush off road something that I can get factory installed or would I have to buy it online somewhere and then install it?
