Help me make up my damn mind...headers

ok i really wanna change up my exhaust. currently i have a stock exhaust with the muffler cut off. i love the sound but im really wanting some more performance, better sound would be good id like to keep it nasty rather than a flowmaster type idle but anyway. ive got a few different options.

OPT 1.
stock manifolds
2.5 inch piping
magnaflow high flows
x piped into true dual bullets dumped

OPT 2.
OBX stainless longtubes
2.5 inch piping
no cats
magnaflow DI/DO dumped

OPT 3.
Pacesetter longtubes
3 inch piping
magnaflow high flows
x piped into true dual bullets dumped

*********

money is definatley a factor, i cant afford dynatechs or kooks.

which do you think would benefit me in regards to performance, not ridiculously obnoxiously loud, and price???

thanks guys

All those set-ups suck for performance on a somewhat stock motor IMO.

If I had to choose one - Option 1 for the best @ all RPM torque/power.

if you really want performance, save up the money for the dynatechs. they may cost more in the short run, but in the long run, they will definently save you. if you are unhappy w/ the first result, and pay for another, you will pay more than by doing things right the first time. 3'' true duals will kill your torque/power, btw.

It's not about "how much" power. It's where you gain it + torque improvement.

Listen , the best system for a stock -lightly modded 4.6 -5.4L is the Expy system Troyer put together @ his site. You can't go wrong with that set up

ok... the best way to look at these things is as a system. you couldn't expect to bolt a set of longtubes on an otherwise stock exhaust, and expect 50hp. however, with a good exhaust (DIDO, 2.5'' piping, high flow cats, good muffler, CAI) and some dynatechs, i'd say you are looking at upwards of 30 hp, (maybe closer to 40?) at the crank, as well as a comparable torque number. i've never had my truck dyno'd, so i am unsure of exact numbers. i will say this: decide on your setup, so that way you won't be like i was, cursing and swearing as i moved my high flow cats back in order to cram the longtubes in to get everything to bolt together.
fwiw, obx headers are chinese ****, an imitation of dynatech w/ inferior welds/labor put into building them. the best price i found on dynatechs was through rpm outlet.

You can make your own decision about buying something made in China or not, but don't talk out your *** about something you have no idea of... I'm just finishing installing OBX longtubes on my truck and the quality is outstanding. The welds are top notch, the flanges are nice and thick and were ground flat after welding, and they fit perfectly with lots of clearance everywhere. The oil and trans dipsticks slid right back in, and the egr tube fell right into place. Those are FACTS from someone who actually has a set, not a bunch of regurgitated crap that someone read on the interweb..... I'll take the $550 or so that I saved and do 2 or 3 more mods.....

Option 4:

OBX Long Tubes or Pace setter if stainless isn't important to you.
2 Magnaflow High Flow cats.
Magnaflow Stainless 2.5"DI/3"SO y-pipe.
Magnaflow Catback 15609 which by the way happened to be the third system down under Complete Systems on Troyers website.

Actually, the one for the Expedition and the one for the F150 have a different part number. For the F150, it's the 15609 and for the Expedition it's the 15681. I don't know what the difference is between the two. Probably just pipe length since it's the same motor.
