Flowmaster Question 2

Alright guys I'm stuck. Flowmaster Super 40 vs. Flowmaster Super 44 on a 2002 5.4L with the factory manifolds and cats. Most likely it will be a 3 inch SI/SO muffler with a 3 inch tailpipe and a 4 inch tip exiting at a 45 degree angle behind the passenger-side rear tire. I want it pretty loud outside but not deafening inside (at least when the windows are up ).
I've heard sound clips of both the 40 and 44 but I am still having trouble picking one over the other. What do you guys think? Thanks.

The are the exact same muffler, the 44 just has fewer internal baffles (meaning more sound and better airflow). I would go with the 44.

the super 44 is by far the best sounding muffler, but it is also the most free-flowing. what im tryin to say is that if you get true duals with two 44's, you will be lackin pressure and that means lacking power and now fuel mileage. if i were you i would go with the SIDO 44.

Yeah, I understand that too little back pressure robs power. That combined with wanting to be different, (well at least from all my buddies around here with duals), made me decide to go with the 3 inch SISO 44 muffler with a single 3 inch tailpipe and 4 inch stainless tip exiting pretty much at the stock/OEM location behind the passenger rear tire. Thanks for the input guys.

you will never have too little back pressure with 4 cats. and it wont make you loose power. im running straight pipe right now with just cats and it has more pick up and power than when the flowmasters

I like the "40" with the 2.5" stainless steel tubing behind the wheel. I have been running that combo since buying my expo three years ago. When I scrapped my 86 Bronco in 2001 the Flowmaster 40 was saved for some later use. I retrofitted that unit on my 98 Exp. and it still works great. The stainless steel plumbing was added along with the chrome tail pipe almost three years ago. I wanted a low restriction system, but without excessive drone that some other systems have.
