I have a 01 5.4 4x4 with duals. the previous owner installed 2 glasspacks but they are hollowed out and rattleing(extremely annoying) and also took out all the cats. This is one of the loudest trucks around, however it will drive you insane on long road trips. I am looking for the right muffler to quiet things down a bit and a way to make the service engine light go off in my dash? any suggestions are appreciated... Thanks

 

MIL eliminators will turn off the lights, and alot of people like the magnaflow mufflers.

 

Magnaflow muffler. The larger the case the quieter it will be.

 

what about price wize?new high flow cats and magnaflow mufflers can hurt the pocket book... im looking for a solving yet semi-affordable solutions...

 

I think I saw that someone was making their own MIL eliminators from stuff bought at radioshack real cheap. Like joshmac said that will take care of your engine light. The only way you're going to quiet the truck down is by putting on quieter mufflers and putting the cats back on, preferrably only 2 high flows. If you don't care about performance then you can always go with whatever muflers are cheapest but Magnaflow will probably flow the best or darn close compared to any other name brand out there. Also, if there is no X-pipe in that system at all, you can try running one of those too. It will balance out the exhaust flow and quiet it down just a bit, but proably not enough for what you're looking for.
