I do know from hearing other Ford exhaust that if you rev them they will pop, but mine doesnt do it so im not quite sure. I have a single flowmaster super 44 that splits into two duals coming out the rear.

I've got a SISO replacement and it's given me no problems. You could really tell the stocker was gone.

That's the key... Only when in neutral or park will you encounter any 'popping' or 'cracking'.

I've got a true dual setup with flowmaster 40's and here are some sound clips while driving...

No popping!

Flowmasters sound great when you gun it. They will not pop or crack under acceleration.

I have the Flowmaster 40 SIDO with the 5.4 engine and it has never made one pop. Sounds great. If it popped, I would remove it.

I have a Super 40 welded in place of the stocker and like everyone else it pops while in neutral if you get high in the RPM. I also had true dual original 40's on my 87 Monte Carlo SS and they popped like crazy at anything over 2500rpm when in park. The super 40 is going soon though. Getting a Magnaflow X-Pipe and and the 4" Round mufflers.

Hey shamrock are you just replacing the stock muffler or doing a all new cat back?? If you are doing a cat back I would go with 3" pipes instead of the 2.5" dont the trucks come with a 2.5" stock?? (I might be wrong) 3" will give you a better sound and better performance IMO

IMO going with new cat back 3" pipes would be the way to go (but if you have the money I would put some high flow cats and the 3" exhaust) depends on what you are looking for in performance and sound. If you do go with just the muffler you might want to change it later or you might not just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. Also in my experience flowmaster does seem to pop/crack more than other mufflers if you are looking for a deep sound check out Dyno Max and Magnaflow you might like the sound better. Good luck
