removed my exhaust - look what I found!

So I installed a Corsa system yesterday. It sounds amazing, but that's not why I'm posting. After kicking the crap out of the muffler for an hour (lube, kick, repeat) it slid back about two inches and then it just wouldn't budge. The front and rear hangers looked like they were just about out, but the middle hanger looked stuck. So, I just unbolted it from the frame and out it came. Well I found out why it wouldn't move any further:

I've read tons of posts about removing the factory exhaust and no one has mentioned this stupid little clip. Maybe I just didn't read the right posts, or maybe all of our trucks don't have this clip, but hopefully someone will read this and at least take a look before they start theirs. I was about two feet away from this thing while I was spraying silicone on it, and I didn't see it. Of course I'm on my back with the truck on the ground so the lighting wasn't great, but it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it.

Those little stupid things that get missed. Thanks for the info, I'm picking up a Magnaflow kit in a couple weeks. I'll be sure to watch for those.

I didn't have the clip, but I would say it is easier to just unscrew the rubber hangers and just take them off the truck.

My 05 did not have that clip. Didn't matter much since used the Sawzall to remove the factory pipes and muffler...then straight to the garbage . I think Ford went a little overboard with the clip, you must have been ticked when you saw that thing. Glad you like the new exhaust!

I had one of those on one of the hangers...once I took it off, the stock piece came out pretty easy.

My 07 didnt have those either. I just removed mine this past Saturday. I had a bit of time pulling the muffler out. Didn't realize at first that the muffler section has to twist before it will come out!
