No mufflers??

Just picked up my new 06 F150 FX4. Looking for a nice sound. This is way too quiet. I was thinking oof eliminating mufflers . Any thoughts on just removing mufflers, leaving the cats and running pipe(s) to the exaust tip. Will it be too loud?

I want a nice throaty sound but no drone in the cab. Also I DO NOT want that annoying popping sound my neighbor has whenever he decellerates.

Is there any advantage to going say flowmaster as opposed to leaving the mufflers off?

BTW It has the 5.4 Triton

The muffler delete will sound trashy, it will pop like you neighbors prolly, a magnaflow will give you the sound you want.

How many mufflers do you have on a stock ride?

Oh, and for the record, I love the snap-crackle-n-pop on decel!

I have no snap crackle and pop with mine. Ok I lied but the ONLY way it will crackle and pop is if I start it dead cold, lay on hte skinny pedal to 3K then let off, and I get one small pop. Thats about it.

Just take the muffler off and see if your satisfied with the tone, if not you can always put it back on and go with a different set up...

I have an '04 w/ a true dual straight pipe setup an love the sound. There is no raspy decel noise an only a pop on start up an if i make it happen, other wise, it sounds great!

yep no popin here, only time is does is when its cold and rev it in neutral, and when you put it in 2nd or 1st manually and decel(which i love)

btw here is a straight pipe vid out the side with stock pipeing and a 3.5"x24" tip

prepare to lose torque down low.

If you want some good sound without losing power, i recommend a dynomax bullet race muffler. You can order one off summitracing.com for 40 bucks. It will give you nearly the sound of straight pipe but will help to maintain that torque.

very true

yeah I noticed no loss in tq, but what felt like a gain. Not dyno proven obviously, but a loss is a loss and you know it when you lose TQ. And that I do not feel.

i saw a sheet and you lose like 2-3Ft lbs thats it you still have the 4 stock cats on there so you wont feel the loss of TQ just like everyone says my 3" true dual pipe will make me lose Tq but i just added Longtube headers at the same time as the 3" pipe so the TQ i picked up with the headers over rides the TQ i lost from 3" piping

Just hack that thing off your truck will run fine and sound good you will gain about 1-2MPG with no muffler *i did at least*
