I run 2 Magnaflow High Flow Cats, 2.25" true duals w/ no mufflers straight out the back w/ 3" tips. I've done all of this over the years getting louder each time. I'm almost positive I have no more than $400 in the whole setup.

im pretty confident im going back to straight pipes...fixing to add custom tunes from troyer and an intake so maybe that will bring back some torque i may lose. I just have to have that mean sound back. This flowmaster 40 sounds terrible when compared to what it used to sound like

So if everyone likes no mufflers ... why do alot of cars have them? is it illegal to not have them? do mufflers help with the poping sound thats very annoying and a huge turn off?

Mufflers keep it from popping, but for the most part, the general public likes quiet cars and trucks. And performance mufflers will increase hp/tq over straight pipes.

I want to go back to no muffler only with an x-pipe this time and not sure how i can make that work while still keeping the stock cats in place
Hey man thanks for the compliments. As for picks

Not true, at least without defining what application you are talking about.

I have 2.5 inch true duals, a h pipe, and no mufflers and 24 inch magnaflow tips. It beats the hell out of the other 2 systems I have had on my truck, and sounds good.

Magnaflow mufflers over blowmaster for sure.

I believe any time you modify your emissions system from stock, it is illegal, I'm not sure if 2 high flows would make it okay or not depending on what state you live in.

Well I just took off my 2.5" straight pipes w/a x-pipe, and installed a maggie x and 2 14" magnapacks, and the torque gain is phenominal, they outperform the straight pipes 24/7. They are a little quieter, but they are deeper and have a nice mellow tone. muffler>straight pipes period, look into research. I thought the same thing, but all the noise was getting to my head and making me think it was better, now with a real exhaust I can tell the truck is "stouter". Both my setup vids are below.

If you are refering to there new chambered muffler line they are very similar to the flowbastard. They sound good, and rumble nice, but have the same characteristics of the FM. For the price if you are goin for a loud setup, the maggie 14" magnapacks are a steal, at $52 apiece, for a stainless muffler, you can't beat them.

Sounds like a good setup to me, I just opted out of the high flows, I don't see a need for them on a unmodified truck. Be sure to post some vids.
