Long tubes??

Ok I have really been thinkin hard about this, and I'm tired of my truck being slow as hell. I have at least 2 studs rusted off in each head, and HATE exhaust leaks. I really want the LT's, but I just know my luck the rest will break and none of them will come out. I was wondering how those that had rusted studs came out. I'm not in the position to pull the engine when they won't come out, I want a PI head swap, but am waiting to afford the short block since the engine needs to come out anyway. Some confidence would be nice, but I really want that torque and don't wanna wait for the heads and short block.

It's going single turbo, but I want to get a little more power out of this 4.6 before it's "replaced".

I have a broken stud also, and I'm dreading the repair...because who knows how many more will snap.

I guess pb blaster is the best thing to help remove the nuts/studs? so I'm going to soak the crap out of them.

i had the same 2 passenger studs broke on my 4.6. that ticking drove me crazy. i soaked the studs overnight with p.b blaster. get some of those sears "bolt out" sockets. youll almost definnitely need those. i think i removed the starter to get the 2 most rear ones out. if you do end up breaking more studs you can always do the weld the nut trick and spin it out.i got lucky and none broke but.. that was my back up plan.took me about 5 hours total.

Looking like it will end up as a rear mount setup, so they can still be used, but I will have to run the truck a few thousand miles to seat the rings and get everything broken in, so I can use those while I wait, and then if it's rear mount. If not, someone will get a great deal on some used pacesetters.
