Wink

Take your business else where. Go to a podunk shop, play it cool with the guys and they should take care of you. I paid $75 and a case of Corona to have my cats removed and replaced with 2.5". Tell them to "shove it up there yuppie a**!"

Most exhaust shops do not like modifying the OEM cats due to possible fines if inspection & emissions is against cat modifications. I couldn't find any shop to do the work I wanted so I ended up cutting my rears and running pre-cats only. Keep looking hard and be willing to drive a few miles and you will in time find the right shop.

and when you cut the cats out(not very legal in emision states)put o2 simulators in place of the rear sensors so you won't have check eng lamp on

Or you could just put on a 9" muffler on. Keep your cats like i did, and it still sounds awesome.

i think the super44 with maggy high flows might still be louder haha

edit: just looked under my truck and there is a sensor after the rear cat. so i do not see why they wont be able to just cut them out and weld in hi-flows and leave sensor in place its still after the new cat

If it comes down to it, leave the pre-cats and have the rears replaced with the hi-flow cats. The rears are what are resonating so much sound. Removal of the pre-cats will mainly just free up performance more, which you may only notice under a good 3,000 load.

will it still be louder with pre-cats and high flows?
even with the 2 high flows it should still clean enough to pass emissions correct?

well, i cut all 4 off mine and replaced with 2 94106 maggies, if the shop will cut all 4 off and let you replace with just 2 then i would do that, good/bad, better performance and mpg (i believe) and your truck will be louder/sound better

but if they will only cut the rear 2 off, then do that, either way replacing 2 or 4 will be a good choice

I had the same probs, went to 3 shops before the Midas guys said sure np. They cut off my old cats, installed my new maggie hiflows w/O2 bung on the cats, plugged my old O2 bungs. I asked for my old cats back, no prob. If you find a place to do this for you make sure you ask for the old cats back cuz you can take them to a scrap metal dealer and get some $$ for them. I got $200 for my old cats.
