What intake should I get?

I have a 1997 F150 with the 4.6L V8 in it. I want to get more power out of it...so i decided my first step was going to be an intake. What are yalls opinons on the best intake out there? and which one will get me the most hp? and how much hp is that gonna be? I am also thinking about getting a programmer but i figured i should start at the basic first and save up a little more before i do that.

Any opinons or suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks

I would get a muffler first. CAI ( cold air intake ) on a stock exhaust, not too easy to exhale. But I would suggest the S&B intake. Great kit for a great price.

I have the exact same truck, year and everything. I have a cut off exhaust with a K&N intake, it brought my mpg up to 14 on the highway and 9 to 10 in town but I have 35s on it. But the intake did help out a lot.

haven't heard much on mac air, but k&n cai dry filter is what mark has in his truck. just keep it clean and be sure to wrap the pipe in some sort of heat shield material. get a custom tune! i just ordered the 3 custom tunes from vmp with the sct xcal3 for a lil over $400. http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...=226&parent=66

I have an Air Force One intake... I ordered it through Troyer and with their discount, it came out to $225. I love the intake. I would definately buy it again.

It's the best intake for our year trucks. Search the forum for more opinions.

Personally I think that S&B makes the best quality intake.

I'd buy the AF1, I personally think the s&b intake looks cheap, looks like it goes on a big wheel or something childish, but to each his own. I would order it from Modbargins

if you get a cai, and the chrome tubing, and you're going to leave it exposed, its not going to do all that much for you since the pipe is going to be hot from the engine, you need to wrap it in some sort of heat shield if you want any performance out of it.
