Magnaflow cat-back, Roush Off-Road/Base cat-back, Borla cat-back, as long as its SI/DO with a straight flow muffler you will be alright.

Don't know US$$, but I am partial to MBRP SI/DO. Running that in my 07 Super Crew 5.4L and even before air intake mods had noticeable increase in power. I went with the 409 stainless steel and double wall tips. Worth every penny... thats my 2¢ worth...

Flex pipe isn't going to last last that long especially if you live in an area where it snows....road salt will kill it quick.
The ridges in the flex pipe will also slow down the air flow.

If money is tight I would personally hold off on doing anything and save up for a magnaflow.

I think a cat-back system from either MagnaFlow or Borla would two good choices for mainly performance.

Check the classifieds section here... I week ago I saw someone selling a Magnaflow muff for 50 bucks...

Otherwise you can buy just the muffler online for 77 bucks...
Or check out Mad Hatter Performance Exhaust... ( On Ebay )

And make sure it's mandrel bent... Otherwise the muffler will pretty much just be for sound.

I've heard this a bit on this forum, mandrel bent exhaust isn't going to make a bit of performance difference on these trucks unless you have serious performance mods. I know several guys that race mustangs etc... and some are running more than 600hp on crush bent 2.5" and 3" exhaust and they have zero flow issues. They really only go mandrel bent when they go much above 600hp and their gains are minimal over crush bent.

I'd like to see proof from anyone that can show measureable difference on a stock engine or even one with a tune and CAI, with mandrel vs a good crush bent exhaust. My guess is you may find a very insignificant variance, certainly nothing you'd notice at the pump or at the gas pedal.

I'm gonna try this very soon. I am just waiting for the set of parts that I ordered last week. Just can't wait
