exit in front or behind tire

Would a person notice any difference in cab noise with the exhaust exiting in front of the back tire instead of behind it? Was 97 the only year they did that from the factory?

And on 1999 - 2004 F150 Lightnings.

Its just slightly louder since the exhaust is about 3.5' shorter. Inside it will increase quite a bit.

I just put the Magnaflow 16616 on my truck and I think its perfect. Its not really loud...it gives it the rumble that a V8 truck is supposed to have.
