Which shorties and where to find them?

I've started to hear that lovely tick-tick-tick of a 5.4L's manifold(s) leaking. I'm interested in putting shorties on it b/c I'm pretty sure it's cheaper than replacing the stock manifolds with another set of manifolds (way cooler as well). I know LT's are better (and had wanted them) but reality/life has set in so I'm looking a lower cost for parts and labor, and for what I use, and will use, my truck for there isn't anything that LT's will allow it to do that shorties won't. So what brands of shorties worth it (relatively speaking to you LT fans ) and where can they be found at a reasonable price? Thanks guys.

I've seen the OBX long tubes and shorties on Ebay but I hadn't heard of OBX until I saw them on Ebay so I wasn't sure about the quality. And I'm looking to spend less than $500 on parts if possible.

I've seen the Pacesetter LT's on Ebay for $350 as well but the ones I saw were just painted and I would prefer ceramic coated or something like that because my truck is a 4x4 that has to deal with road salt every winter. I also do not want to have to buy/fabricate a y-pipe since I would not be doing the work myself and the LT's will require either a higher parts cost or more labor to fabricate it (especially since I'm not looking for more HP). Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have LT's but it's a cost/simplicity/don't need more HP issue. If there is a set of LT's out there that is less than $500 (for all needed parts), a direct bolt on without any mods, and won't make me fail my NYS inspection, then sign me up. I just haven't run into any that fit that criteria because I know thats quite a bit to ask.

Where did you find you Gibson shorties for $350? Were they coated or painted? If coated that seems like a good price. Thanks.

several people are running the OBX headers without any issues (they are copies of the dynatechs) and the OBX header kit does not include cats only the resonators so you'll throw a code unless you run cats or the gotts o2 mod

You said you got a used set for a good deal, ebay doesn't constantly have lucky deals like that you know.. if so, I would have a Roush Off-Road muffler by now.
