get a 50 series SUV muffler single in single out the same size as your stock exhaust pipe and take it to a muffler shop and tell 'em to put in place of your stock muffler...

x2 on the 50 series. Delta, or SUV would be good. Anything else will just drone in cab.

I just installed a flowmaster 50 series SUV and really like it. SI/SO new 3" pipes. Just ripped out the old muffler and piping. Had someone else drive my truck while I watched and listened from outside and it sounds great. Can hear it a bit from the cab but not loud. Just enough to let you know its there.

Just had my flowmaster 50 series delta flow 3"si/2.3" do installed and love it sounds GREAT on outside, and the inside, Not to loud at all but out side has that nice deep sound. The shop i installed it only had 40 series and was even impressed when he installed it on my truck and hear it.

Which of the Magnaflows would be comparable to the 50 series?

Pretty much any of the 5x8 or 5x11 Maggies will equal the 50 series in sound. If you want it quieter, stick with a longer muffler.

I put a 5x8x18" SI/DO Magnaflow on my 97 4.6 not too long ago.
It's fairly quiet at idle...just a slight rumble. If you get on the truck with a load it'll make some noise, but under a light load it's not too loud...just enough to let folks know that there is a V8 under the hood. I was going to do the 5x8x24 but figured that it would wind up too quiet since I've still got all four stock cats on my truck.

I can hear mine in the cab at highway speed but it's not noticable unless I have a window open. I kept my exits in the stock '97 location (in front of the right rear tire) but if you do tailpipes all the way back to the bumper it'll mellow it out even more with even less noise in the cab.
