Dual Exit or Single Exit

Thinking of doing the Single exit behind the wheel or Dual exit out the sides.

Curious as to which way everybody is going nowadays and why?
Whether or not there is any performance gains/loss from doing one vs the other?

I like the look of the duals but I've seen a lot where the two sides aren't exact. That's always been my complaint. It always seems like the driver's side pipe hangs a little lower and from the back it's pretty obvious. If you go duals stress it to your shop that you want them perfectly matched.

avoid the mail order kits, take it to a shop and have them put the exits how you want it

I have had duals, at 45* out behind the rear tires, on my others trucks but I wanted to do something different on my 04. So I went with a single 3" exiting in the stock location with a 4" dia polished SS tip. I would post pics of it, but I can't find them right now....

If you do duals go with a set-up like Dan and Darren have. I would so recommend going to a custom exhaust shop, so you can have everything done how you want.

I think on these trucks, if you MUST show your exhaust, a single large tip looks best. (llike a nice 4" tip) I've always thought exhaust should be heard and not seen, I prefer dumps personally.

Honestly unless the truck is pushing alot of HP 400+, like turbocharged or supercharged, you don't have to have mandrel bends. Mandrel bends look alot better than crimp bends, but crimp bends will not hurt the performance in any way even on a moderately modded truck.

Its kinda strange how shops vary region to region. Around here you would have a very hard time finding a shop that doesn't do all mandrel bends. But I have heard from others like you that they can't find any place that can do mandrels.

I thought about doing dual behind both rear tires, but as neat as it looks I figured too many Dodge and chevy owners have that, especially older Impala SS owners here in Vegas so I went with the Lightning route, dual just in front of the rear passenger tire. I dunno, dual tips just looks more aggressive. I personally got no increase in acceleration, but my Flowmaster 40 series sounds mean and the dual chrome tips look mean. If my truck can't be super quick then it can at least be intimidating
