Exhaust & intake options - 2003 5.4 - 4WD

Well my '97 (with a 4.6) got hit a few weeks ago and insurance was going to total it, but then they decided to cut a check and let me keep it. It's going to Macco for dent pulling and paint then it will be sold. In the mean time I purchased a 2003 with a 5.4 in it.

The '97 had Gibson headers, OEM downpipes & cats, and a Flowmaster SIDO cat- back exhaust as well as a Airaid CAI and Poweraid TBS. It sounded ok but I always wanted louder. I plan on pulling the Airaid CAI off the '97 and installing it on the '03.

The '03 currently has a SIDO Flowmaster cat-back on it. I can already tell it's louder (for obvious reasons). My questions to you are this:

1. How much will the Airaid CAI help me out?
2. Who makes a good set of headers for my '03 -5.4?
3. Who makes a good replacement y-pipe WITH cats to replace the crappy designed (90* y-pipe = power loss) factory one that works with a 4WD powertrain?

1. fair enough.
2. Any good brands under $800?
3. 'cause it's already got a nice SIDO Flowmaster on it I'd like to not change just yet. That and where's the room for an x-pipe on a 4WD truck? I could never find anything that would fit for my '97 unless it was 2WD.

Your not gonna get LTs with cats & a Y pipe anywhere else but Dynatech, the $1200pkg is a pretty fair deal.

Me personally I see that as being ridiculous (found that earlier today at Summit):

Well how about totally illegal with no cats and MIL eliminators? What options for a header / y-pipe combo are there then? And I have no preference regarding LTs or shortys.

If you just buy LTs you are open to a variety, but remember, you pay for what you get. You could buy the cheap $270 painted Pacesetter LTs and have them rust out after 6 months, or $600 - $800 or so for a decent set of ceramic coated or stainless steel headers. The OBX headers in stainless would be a good choice. Then you need to buy O2 extensions, 2.5" collectors, hi-flow cats, and have a Y pipe bent.

See this isn't so bad. I can deal with $550. I did the same on my mustang - BBK headers with pypes catted X for $525

Ok so what makes a Harley edition different from mine, cause these two deals are pretty fair.

yes you need o2 extensions. collectors are already there. only if you want the cats. Kit comes with a stainless one already.

I'll chop and splice like I did on the mustang for extensions. I've got enough wire laying around.

Are the Harleys Super-charged? Would be why the one kit says it won't fit Harleys and Lightnings?
