Which Magnaflow Muffler.....
#16
Fred...just for comparison...I went with the 22" Magnaflow. I love the rumble at ignition and when I step on the gas. You can certainly hear it, but at crusing speeds it is a very steady hummmmm, with no loud cabin noise.

I went with the 12888 just the other day. I kept my stock pipes except for the last 10" or so of the tailpipe which was cut off to install the stainless tip. It's perfect. If I had gone with a full 3" all new pipes then I probably would have gone with the 22". I figured the smaller 2.5 stock pipes would keep the sound a little quieter so the 18" would be OK. So far I'm VERY happy with it. I do a LOT of highway driving with it and frequently have the whole family in it on long rides so I didn't want it too loud. I've learned that lesson in the past.
Anyhow it gives a nice "bark" when you first start it up and then settles into a very nice smooth toned idle. It's barely louder than stock, but has a nicer deep tone...just slightly though....you're not going to think it's a '60s musclecar or Mustang with a system on it. When you cruise down the road, anything under 2500 or so RPM it's the same deal...just BARELY louder than stock, but with a slightly more rumbling, deeper tone. Anyone who had never been in the truck before may think it's all stock. Above 2500 or so rpm however it definitely roars pretty well. Still not obnoxious and there's no drone inside the cab.
Sadly I have no video cam..otherwise I would post a video up...I really should because I think there probably are a lot of guys out there who want an exhaust like this.
My only regret is that I wish I had gone with the 3.5" tip instead of the 3" I was thinking the 3.5 would look too "ricer-ish" for my tastes but I think the 3" looks pretty small. Still better than the 2.5 stock pipe though!
