Try the DWV intake, do a search. It is basically the same gains as a commercial Cia. However, you wont see much of a gain unless you have a tuner like a gryphon, xcal3 ect ect. A exhaust system helps too.

So do you have to get a tuner or a chip to adjust the lean in the truck. I am new to this and I guess I didn't read enough until after I installed Magna Flow pipes (Cate back) and the AFE Cold air intake. I could feel more power when I installed the Magna Flows and it didn't feel like it was bogging down when I stepped on it for passing. When I installed my AFE, I notice a big jump when taking off but when passing, it felt like it was struggling and it sounded like it was double the RPM''s than it was showing me. Sorry to take onto your post but i can't find anything on here that is telling me what i am doing wrong, and I didn't want to start another post. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong????

I have a 08 F150 Surper Crew 4x4 5.4l Flex fuel.

It's dangerous to add a CAI to a 2004 or 2005 5.4. Not so much with the 2006 up. However, you just do not get much benefit from a CAI without a custom tune written to take advantage of the additional available air.

Does it hurt your O2 sensor and plugs because of carbon build up? I think I will pull it off until I get the tuner. Edge is the way to go or is there something easier to use or better? Let me know, Thank you very much for the quick responses

No, there should not be any damage and no carbon build up. The problem with some of the 5.4 3v engines is that the CAI can cause them to run lean. Too much air for the fuel and that can cause internal damage, primarily at WOT.

The Edge has canned tunes which are written for the stock intake, so it will not help you with a CAI. Get a Gryphon if you like the monitor feature(I do). It is the same hardware as the Edge, comes with the same canned tunes, but can be custom tuned by www.powerhungryperformance.com. They are also the source for the Gryphon.

If the gauges in the monitor are of no interest to you, then you could also get a custom tuned Xcal3 from Troyer.

You really need custom tunes for a CAI to provide full benefit.

My advise on a 2004 is to not touch it without a tuner.

The exhaust wont hurt the engine internally will it? Ok i will remove the CAI until I get the tuner, and thank you for the advice. I have to ask what does WOT stand for?

WOT= Wide Open Throttle

A cat back exhaust will make no change on the engine, and does not requir a tune. It's only when changing headers or removing cats that you need to retune for exhaust.
