First Truck Need help with Exhaust Decision

Gents, thank you so much for all of the advice. I have the K&N and the throttle body spacer both sitting in my garage. So, after all the advice I'm going to return the spacer and go buy a tuner. After all I've read I think I'm going to go with the hypertech. From what I hear its a little less HP but more tuning options. What do you think?

I found the Roush Off-Road Dual single side exhaust you were talking about for $496 at carparts.com. I think I'll go with that and do the install myself. Thanks again guys.

I prefer the Edge programmer more than Hypertech..

Congrats on the truck. You got a throttle body spacer oh no, me too don't feel too bad makes you sound like you have a turbo. I have a gibson super sport exit in front of rear tire and love it. Heres a pic if it helps any

Don't buy a Superchips programmer or a Hypertech, they are both equally terrible. Either get an EDGE, Gryphon, or VMP Xcal. Everyone that's bought a Hypertech has tried to sell it after a relatively short amount of time.

I was looking at the Borla Mufflers you told me to get...Whats the difference in a Center/Center or Center/Offset etc. I know what they mean, but what does that do? Also what does the length of the muffler do, what do I want? I've seen everything from 5'' to 32''. Thanks for the help man.

Offset and \center is for fitment purposes and the size of the muffler determines sound. Larger susually means quieter and shorter usually means louder.

borla Xr-1 i believe only makes a center center and i would get i think its 12"? not sure but the Xr-1 is a badass sounding muffler. if u want a good sound for cheap look into bullets by dynomax. thatll give u the sound u want for a little cheaper with left over money for other mods

Thanks man, I'll definitely look into that. I'm only worried about sound and performance, I couldnt care less what the bottom of my truck looks like.

ya the S type and Xr-1 are awesome sounding. Xr-1 is louder

I have the borla xr-1 in the 12 inch case, model number is 40943, you can get them at jegs or summit for just a bit over $100., the xr-1 is fairly loud, sounds better in person but I have a few videos in my sig, turn up your speakers if ya listen to them.

Thanks guys, love the sound of that XR-1, I think I'm settled on that for the muffler. Now to the next question... Stock on my truck is two CATs that come to a Y before the muffler then a single side exhaust. Am I better off getting two XR-1s and going with dual out the back or keep the Y and put both into one XR-1 and do a single side exhaust. Whats the difference in both performance and sound? Just from a simple mechanical engineering perspective it seems like two mufflers would give the engine more relief and keep the same amount of back pressure; whereas keeping the Y wouldn't really change anything except new metal under there with a different size muffler. Lastly... Either way I go, stock right now is 2.5 I/O... I want to go 3.0 I/0 with a 4.0 tip. Is that ok? Again, I'm not a huge car buff but I am a pilot so back to simple engineering. I know the headers and cat's are doing most of the pressure and relief but I feel like going with a bigger diameter tube from the cats back will help. Let me know what you guys think... Thanks again for all the feedback
