Which Magnaflow muffler should I get?

Hi guys,

I went into off road warehouse today and they recommend me doing a 22" magnaflow muffler.

I want to have it sound deep and loud when I get on it and at startup. But also want to have it quiet at cruising speeds and highway trips especially since I use it for work and drive to customers homes every day.

So do you guys think this is a good muffler choice?

22" wont be very loud. a little louder than stock. 18" will be a bit louder, but your best bet is the 14". if you mount it back enough towards the bed, you wont get much drone.

Hmm so maybe and 18 or 14 will be better. I don't want to lose any backpressure as well for towing etc.

Would the 14" compare to a flowmaster 40? I've heard that before and it was pretty loud.

Sweet sounds like 18" is what I should get. If anyone else has sound clips pls post them.

Also will I lose any backpressure with the 18" magnaflow or notice any other power/mpg changes?

Your performance sould improve as well as mpg IF you keep your foot out of it. I have no problem with that and am getting 17 city which I think is impressive the way my truck is set-up. That is a 1-1.5 mpg increase. The math don't lie Get the 18" si/so 3" piping all the way. It appears that you tow and a 3" si/so muffler (esp maggie) will help your torque and passing power. IDK if you have considered this either, but because it looks like you tow, do the DWV intake mod if you want a bit more power.

Not necessarily tow much but I do always have a good 300-500 pounds in the bed when working. Ok I just need to find a good muffler shop in San Diego that will hook it up. I am not paying over $200 for this when I hear people getting it done for well under that.

the 14" si/do sounds great. Louder than in the video. Dude, I hate obnoxious exhausts and this is the farthest thing from it. Check out these vids of Darrens, very similar to mine, just a bit louder than mine (his camera quality is much better than mine so his is more accurate)

Wow thats pretty loud lol. I like it loud but think it might be too loud for when I start my truck up outside of customers homes. I have a pool cleaning business so I can't startle the neighbors too much. Lol sometimes I want to be out of there without them hearing me.

The 14" is quiet based off of how you drive. The 18" may be better incase your customers don't like louder exhausts. The 14" I think would be fine, but I would play it safe. Either would work, but the 18" may put you at ease and look more professional... It still rumbles nicely from all the vids I have seen on the 18"

Nice... do you have any other videos of other 18" magnaflows? I only have seen your video and can't find any others. I guess 18" is the way to go perfect in the middle. 14" might be too loud and 22" is just too weak.
