Best Filter to use?

so i done the DWV mod today now i just need a good drop in filter. so are there any recommendations for me. i know k&n is good i've used it on my 2000 f150 but i just didnt know what others think is better for these 04+ trucks. is there really that much of an issue with oiled filters? i've heard some people say stay away from them but it seems like the majority doesn't have any problems.

mine is a 07 5.4 if it matters at all.

I have about 89,000 miles on a K&N drop-in and have not had one problem. You just have to follow directions and oil lightly. You hear a lot of negative talk, but my truck does not use oil and I have saved the cost of filters, so I'm pleased with it. If you want to stay away from oiled, there are supposed to be some washable filters out there, but I have not looked into them.

i thought about a volant or AEM since they are dry cotton gauze filters but i would have to order one of the net and dont really want to wait a week for one. so i was at o'rielys earlier today and got a k&n for a good price so i guess i'll go with it. which is another thing why i like the k&n stuff b/c it is available at most local places and the other brands are special order.

thanks for all the opinions though

I agree with Bluejay, just don't over oil the K&N drop in and you'll be OK. I've got close to 65k on mine with no problems.

I still think a fresh paper filter is best. Just get a good one...no fram. Mc purolator or wix and you will be fine!

thanks for the opinions guys, but i have decided to go with the k&n because they back their stuff, have a good warranty and the fact that it is readily available unlike the other brands.

but thanks anyway
