Okay, X-Pipe it is. Does anyone have any suggestions on brand? I'd like to order everything from the same place to save a little on shipping...

Estimated Total $419.60...Not including a shop's labor charge and additional pipe sections...

http://www.performancepeddler.com/se...=2&subcat=3111

Pick the one that has the correct pipe size. As a matter of fact, buy all the components you need from performancepeddler.com, after you reach a certain amount, shipping is free.

I priced everything out using PerformancePeddler.com. Apparently they do not carry Dynomax Mufflers. But everything else was:

Your SubTotal: $325.10 + Two (24215 Dynomax Bullets $39.95ea) = $405.00

Don't forget using the coupon code "bestoffer4em".

Yes... No.
More like Yes... Yes. (but only if you have the correct mufflers!)

So I've decided to just remove the last 2 cats and run my setup from there. I ordered the X-Pipe, 2 Bullets, and tips. I then went to the local shop to see if they would do the work. They had no problem removing the rear cats, but they would have to remove my headers in order to weld the pipe after the first set of cats since they are so close together?! This doesn't sound right to me. In addition to that, they said that the cost would be too much and that I should just purchase a "cat back system".

So for those of you who have true duals installed/custom bent, how much did it cost?

I crawled under the truck with the guy when he was explaining it to me and there's maybe 3"-4" from the last cat to the O2 sensor. And it seems to me that any person with decent welding skills should be able to weld this.

At $70/hr the shop claimed it wouldn't be worth it for me to have them hassle with setup. Mind you this is a custom shop that does some very nice work.

Any suggestions?

Carl

the shop is confusing. first off, you cant buy a dynomax bullet cat back. second of all, its cheaper to have a shop weld everything vs buying a kit. kits cost 600 bucks starting vs $70/hr x3 hrs=$210
2 dynomax bullets =$80
X pipe= $60

$350
basically half the price of a kit.

I'm also looking to do the same sort of thing to my 5.4L...I'm all for whatever would help get me as close to a mustang gt sound as humanly possible. A buddy of mine has an X pipe set up and it's alright but he is still convinced that my simple SIDO set up sounds better. If I go with the H-pipe set up I will post a video in the coming weeks.

I remember this thread, back when I was the only one with Magnapacks. Dark days those were.
