My chevy buddies always said it is an easy way to trash a valve.

I can't say anything else other than I did the same thing back in the day going to a muffler shop in my old truck. I was young and dumb so of course I had to redline the truck. My jaw dropped from the noise and the floor boards rattled hahah!! The truck pop'd and sounded like a shotgun going off. Gotta love 351w's.

yeah if you just bolt up the resonators you will be fine it has both sets of o2's on them and that should be far enough from the head to not warp a valve, i have been running my long tubes with hi flows and a y pipe for about 4 months now...

Yep, that's what he told me. Something about damaging a valve.

I'll rig up some temporary exhaust setup and hope it doesn't fall off in front of some tree hugging hippy passing thru MO.

well if u run it like that alot eventually the cold air will rush back thru and into the heads, then the hott valves wil warp due to cold air hitting them, when i ran racing go karts on straight methanol i always stuck a plug in the open header so my valves would not warp after a race..

Is that really how you warp a valve? I've always wondered how it was done.

Thats what my worry was, as on the way to the exhaust shop I went to, you have to drive right by a Raleigh police sub-station, not bad I guess unless you get stuck at the light that is in front of the station, no cops got me but I was checking in the rear view like every 30 seconds or so, cause you probably wouldn't hear them if you got in the gas real good. .funny it made the rear view mirrors vibrate like a some woofer was blasting, felt it in the floor boards and butt too.

i know with shortys you can really mess up valves but with longtubes each pulse is close enoght the cold air cant rush all the way up the primarys....ive ran open headers in 10* weather
