how long do chrome tips last compared to stainless steel tips? and whats a good brand of chrome tips?

 

1/5th as long. Water kills chrome tips, it'll be rust covered within a month. Spend your money once and buy stainless.

 

Totally depends where you live and how you take care of them

I had chrome tips on my ranger for a few years, kept 'em polished most of the time, can't keep up with the rust tho. I would never get them again. Stainless is worth the twice as much price tag if you plan on keeping the truck for more than a few years.

By the way water doesn't kill chrome, salt corrosion will.

 

yea it depends on if you take care of them and where you live, up north with salt get SS

down here where it never gets below freezing, i like chrome tips better than SS

 

Water can damage cheap chrome tips, after staining it and being in rain, the heat from the exhaust caused the tip on my buds Explorer to go to hell after 3 months.

 

my tips are still good after over a year and i dont even clean them

except the under side where i backed into that curb!
