remember that resonance eliminator that was on oem exhaust, ford put it there to eliminate drone from 1800-2200 rpms, was behind muffler attatched to piping if memory serves me right...

Here are a video of a 22" magnaflow just installed with a bit of driving
At cruise there is no drone in the cab but while take off you can hear the rumble.

They make it sound a little like the volume of a Diesel, not too loud but you can tell its there. Its Flowmaster's equivalent of the Magnaflow 22". The 70 Series has a 22" body, 5" thick & 10" wide, where as the 40 is 13x4.5x9.75. The 40s are twice as loud.

That's a big ole muffler, but it doesn't sound bad. Just enough to make a little flowmaster noise...

+1 on the Corsa... I have a Corsa Touring, no drone, great sound when you nail it, straight through muffler and all stainless steel. Took about 30 minutes to install.

if youre saying cai systems cant give you better mpg's thats false. they allow your motor to take in more air which lets it work easier which means less fuel used.

I had my '09 done a couple of weeks ago. I told the shop I wanted the 18" but I ended up with teh 14" SIDO through a comedy of errors. It exits in the stock location and the matching spot on the other side. I love it around town but I cannot stand to be in the truck at 70 mph. Tried everything from cruise, no cruise to Leonard Skynard loud and I am swapping it with a 22" SIDO.

I did learn from the Magnflow Rep/Sales guy to the local shop where I am having it done that not all 22" are the same. The part number which escapges me now (ending in 95 I think) is different and has an "X" design inside of it to further reduce drone.

I had a 22" SISO on my '06 and I loved it and it did add some mid range with the CAI. Having it swapped on Monday and will know more then.

The internal x design is on DI/DO mufflers only and is supposed to be for performance, not reduction in drone... although I imagine it would make it quieter in the process. A 22" would be damn near silent to begin with though....

let this thread rest in peace now please lol.

2009+ are much louder than the '04 - '08 model trucks, especially the '97 - early model '05s which had 4 converters. The cats in '09+ are shorter, dont reduce volume as much, and the 2.75" exhaust they run over the previous models 2.5 allows for more volume. The tuning in the engine is a little better too. It still babbles me a bit how a 14" SI/DO could be overbearing with drone, but its understandable other people have much different drone tolerances. A 22" body magnaflow in his truck will sound like an 18" body in yours.

I thought they reduced road noise in the cab a little more in the 09s compared to the real silent 04 - 08 cabs, guess not.
