True dual size question

True dual size question

Alright, I've figured out what mufflers and tips I'm going to use, but don't know what size piping I'll need. I have a 97 with the 4.6. The plan is to have true duals with an xpipe, leading to two dynomax bullets with tips being stainless or chrome 3.5-4"x18" slash cut forty-fived out the back. I've read that 2.25" piping is perfect for true duals, but want to make sure that's whats needed. Any suggestions? Will it sound nice and deep with an aggressive note?

2.5 is what I am running with H pipe and magnaflows with same tips and angle. Has a nice tone to it.

run 2.5" it will sound alot deeper, and better

2.25 and 2.5 sounds identical...

2.25 gives you more low end torque while 2.5 gives you more high end power. You drive a truck, which seems more useful?

I wouldn't say alot. I just heard mine for the first time, and it is incredibly deep with 2.25".

2.25" gained me power in the low range and the middle for sure, the upper range is about the same as it was with a single dumped Magnaflow.

I say go 2.25"

You'll want 2.25". My choice of 2.5" was a mistake. Much better low end performance can be expected of 2.25" pipes, stronger velocity retaining more energy to throw at the rear wheels. They sound the same, but 2.5" is a little more metallic sounding, and 2.25" will be louder at idle.

If you heard 2.25" and 2.5" on the same truck... You would get 2.5".

Sound is primary, but, if the amount of difference in performance over sound is substantial then I'd go with performance. It's looking like I'm going to use 2.25" and call it a day.

Tone wouldn't be a big difference anyway...unless you were doing straight pipes. The only noticable different would the be volume. 2.25" is where it's at.

also , mandrell bent, ss if u can afford it-=better heat retention which =better exhaust scavenging,also keep x pipe as close to engine as possible

Next question, should I order a name brand x pipe to put on or have the shop that's welding it up for me make or provide it?

theres an X pipe on ebay for about 25 bucks. thatll work just fine
