Exhaust break in?

Ok guys I have read through the forms and I hear all this talk about the exhaust break in. What, specifically, are you guys talking about? How does it affect it? How long before its "broken in"? I just got my dynomax bullet installed today with a y off of it to 2 3.5 inch tips, and was wondering if after the break in would it be louder pop more or what?

Thanks for the help in advance!

Packed mufflers that are direct flow are the only mufflers that break in. Its basically a period of time where the interior packing burns off of the preforated tube inside which helps a louder, more volume pitched sound to appear. This does not occur with chambered mufflers or ceramic ones.

The Bullet is technically packed, but not with the same heavy sound deadening material Magnaflow and Borla use. There is really only about a 1/2" of case wrapped around the bullet so you could say that its already broken in. It will be loud right after installed, and it will sound very nice with OEM cats.

I love the sound of it I drove it around alot today, mostly just showing it off haha. It was almost exactly what I was looking for. The only thing it lacks is some poping but with the 4 cats I know that wont happen with the 4 on, but it is great sounding and just loud enough for me.

I bought my truck with a glasspack installed, and after about 3 months I noticed a considerable sound difference. Once I finally scrap up enough cash to switch over to true dual Magnaflows, about how long is the break-in period until I will get the true sound?

Mine is still getting a bit louder. I've got a 14" magnaflow si/do (#12198) and I notice it get a tad louder every so often. I've got over 2k on it now

With my true dualed Magnaflows I noticed it kept getting louder upwards of 10k miles. Ever since it seems to have stayed where its at, and its quite loud.

My gibson got the loudest it will ever be after about 4,000 miles on it.
Flow through mufflers break in on however they are packed and what material thickness is used.

Some of your youtube videos of your truck have convinced me to eventually go with magnaflows. That bad larry sounds wicked good
