To Darren,

I definately did NOT intend my comment on duals with slant cut tips...45'd..etc to offend anyone. I was simply stating my personal preference, and wanting something a little different. So please know that I was not taking a stab at anyone (sorry if it came out that way). To each thier own. As for the cats, I think I can achieve an adequete sound level for my tastes without messing with them. I am overall pretty pleased with the sound volume of my current set-up anyway, just looking for something different for next time (maybe a little louder would be nice but not much). Thank you for the suggestion anyway. You're right. Removing stock cats or replacing with hi-flows is the best way to get added sound. I will have to youtube some videos of the magnaflow mufflers you mentioned, as I typically have only had experience with Borla, Flowmaster, and the glasspack style muffler.

To Badd97f150,

I will have to youtube the dynomax bullet. I am not familiar with it. At first glance it looks like a classic glasspack muffler. Is that a correct assumption?

ok, just wondering if something for a 2004 and up extended cab or supercrew will fit my 2002 supercrew with little modification. Its seems to me that the length of the trucks is still roughly the same and if you move the hangers around here and there, you could make it work. The portion that goes up and over the rear axle shouldn't have changed that much with the next generation body style...should it?

I would like something like this mentioned in this link for my truck, but I don't see anything like this made specifically for a 2002 supercrew bodystyle. Its seems that this could made to work with a little persuasion. I'm just curious how much difference there is between the trucks exhaust systems. Something like this is all stainless, which I like and is available in a 3.5" exhaust pipe size.

this info came from f150net:

2002 Supercrew 4x4
wheel base=138.8
overall length=226.2

2004 Supercrew 4x4
wheel base=138.7
overall length=224

it seems like the length and wheelbase are close enough, and as long the output from the Y behind the motor is on the passenger side in 2004 as it is in 2002, then maybe it could be made to work with a little moving of hangers and such? What do you think?

I think you should just order your muffler and tips, and let a shop do it.

I would have a shop modify the system to fit if it was close enough. Besides, none of the local shops around me have a mandrel bender anyway...so, they couldn't make a system like that one if they wanted too. Most don't even keep stainless steel on hand.

I really am curious if the system for a 2004 Supercrew could be easily made to fit a 2002 Supercrew. The dimensions seem to be very much the same. Does anyone have any personal experience or knowledge about this, or have possibly done it themselves?

dont run a muffler on a 97-03, the 4 cats kill the sound, I've got a 40 series and it sucks...I can't wait to cut it off...its so quiet its ridiculous, just has a real mellow tone. I'd order a 3.5" exhaust for a 04 and buy a section of pipe from napa and bandclamp together a straight through system..

^ why dont you get high flow converters? i have a 2002 with true dual thrush 2 chambers, i guess the same thing as 40 series kinda..and its damn loud and i have high flow converters

'97 - '03 gen the intermediate pipe is curved up higher than 04+ is but thats about the only difference, as long as you aren't going from the Y pipe back.

Hell a Dodge Cummins diesel exhaust can fit in an F150, if you haven't seen that one video on youtube.

Yes the bullet is a straight through design like a glasspack but instead of having just fiberglass packing it has CRF, Continous Roving Fiberglass. I don't know what the difference is but they sound different, the bullet is very deep and only has a 4db sound reduction over a straight pipe.
