measure the stock pipe. Inlet needs to be stock (should be 2.5 or 2 3/4)
and exit should be 2.5 or 2.25. Do a single in dual out. Too much trouble to go si/so with Y pipe. He will have plenty of BP

right, but flowmaster only makes the original 40 muffler with a 3" inlet, the only ones with a si/do 2.25" OR 2.5" inlet are the Delta Flow mufflers, are they the same? or no?

Delta Flow is a bit different, they add a few more plates in and a 1" thicker case. The original 40 is availalble in all sizes from 2.25" to 3" though, so I do not understand what you meant by 3" only.

According to Summitracing and flowmaster.com, the original 40, in a single in/dual out, is only available in a 3" inlet...

Oh, SI/DO? well thats another thing I didn't understand what you were originally stating. Just checked myself, thats weird. They used to have all random 2.25" - 3" sizes for SI/DOs.

So will the 3" inlet work (and the muffler shop can work their magic on it?), or should he go with the 2.25/2.5" inlet 40 Delta Flow..
