Stainless

So I have a 2007 ford F150, I want to make it scream and my muffler shop keeps asking me NON STOP why I am wanting to screw with the stainless pipes.

WTF, I know Stainless will last but I want it louder

Who has cut their exhaust and changed it with new stainless?
Who has cut it and swapped out without?

What should I do? these guys make me second guess my decisions about wanting to change things.... I am going crazy

I say dont waste your money on glasspacks! Secondly stainless pretty much sums itself up....I dont know if your shop is aware of how much water and salt the underneath of a truck gets. I put exhaust on my wifes truck and went cheap on the tips, just went with chrome....Its a never ending fight to keep rust from forming whereas my stainless exhaust i just wipe off from time to time. Id get on youtube and listen to some exhuast setups before you decide. You should already have a Y pipe also if its stock exhaust.

....?

Change your piping from the Y back to 3" SS piping, 3" dynomax bullet, and exit it however you want. IF you still want louder replace your cats with high flows. A shop cannot be confused by that. Simple loud system.

You are obviously concerned about the longevity of your exhaust since you want stainless. You dont have to get stainless, but in the very salty climates it is nice to have to ensure long lasting life. But you will pay almost twice the amount of money for stainless as apposed to aluminized piping. There is hardly any difference iin tone at all, stainless will just have a slightly richer tone to it.

Secondly, dont bother with a cruddy sounding glasspack. These modular V8s dont sound right with them. Stick with a packed straight through muffler, like Magnaflow for example.

When you say you want a Y pipe do you mean the OEM Y pipe up front? Or you want a Y pipe to dual out tailpipes from a single muffler?

If cost isn't an issue, go for a Flowmaster 2 chamber muffler with dual outlets for dual tailpipes.

I would definitely consider Mig's setup, listen to his videos. Sounds great.

Yet you have thrush?

I love glasspacks and the way they sound, i dont like magna's sound. (no i'm not white trash)

It is a little cold for me to be crawling up under to see what the exhaust has in store for the setup i want.

I havent mucked around with ford exhaust since my 95 351W with packs.

i find it hard to see that it has a Y pipe already on it since it is single exhaust unless i am retarded.

As far as the stainless is concerned we use sand for roads mostly so i am wondering HOW MUCH LONGER of a life will the pipes last if I DONT do stainless. The packs i can replace i dont care if they "dont last long"

Glass packs on your older truck sure....Like the other fella stated, these new trucks they sound like dog crap. I have true dual maggies and they sound rich and loud. You have a Y pipe. How else does your exhaust come out of your motor into one single pipe? Thats called a Y. As soon as you look under your truck you will see what we are all talking about. Most custom dual exhaust systems start from the factory Y to a SIDO or SISO

I have a Roush Dual kit made of T-304 Stainless steel! It sounds great & will probably outlast the truck itself!.....I love the sound too!
